Highest summer transfers expenditures from English Premier League.

Highest summer transfers expenditures from English Premier League.

Summer is always interesting for us, football fans. It's mostly not due to some high calibre games, except international games, but thanks to summer transfers window!
This summer wasn't anything different compared with the previous one and we saw some huge transfers. Hazard, Jovic, De Ligt, Griezmann, Pepe, Militao, Mendy, Bissaka and so on. A lot of interesting moves for the new FIFA 20 Ultimate team!
The top includes Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus...and Athletico Madrid with Aston Villa?!?!? In top 15, during the summer, there are some other surprise teams like Sevilla, AC Milan, Wolves and Everton.
There is only 1 team in the top 20 list who actually made some profits after the big spendings and this club is Athletico Madrid, due to selling Griezmann to Barcelona.
Top 3 clubs in the income category are already familiar SL Benfica, Ajax and LOSC Lille. Lyon is always there in the top also and during this summer, also Hoffenheim and Chelsea managed to bag some great profits.

Premier League summer transfers window biggest spenders

Aston Villa

Premier Leagues big spenders this summer, hoping to stay in the Premier League this time after the promotion from Championship. 148mil spent during the summer transfers window and 0 income from selling the players.
They strengthened all the lines during the summer and the most expensive additions were a striker, centre-back, midfielder and a left-back.

summer transfers

Brazilian striker Wesley had a breakthrough season in Belgium for Club Brugge and is a direct replacement for Abraham who bagged 26 goals last season. Very young and not proven on a high level yet, but with his strength and hight he is one very interesting prospect. Central defender Tyrone Mings was bought from Bournemouth and were playing for them already last season as a loaned player. Another Brazilian prodigy, Douglas Luiz, played in La Liga but belonged to Manchester City. He had a decent season in Girona, but can he handle the tempo offered to him in Premier League? Only time will tell, but the fact that he was playing for Brazil U23 and U20 teams means that there's talent and Aston Villa is investing in youth.
Defenders Matt Targett and Ezri Konsa both cost them between 13mil and 15 mil and have to replace long servers Alan Hutton and Ritchie De Laet. First of them has some experience in Premier League already.
Defensive minded midfielder Marvelous Nakamba joins Wesleys steps from Brugge. Wingers Anwar El Ghazi and Trezeguet are both silky and fast on the flanks. Ghazi played in Villa already in last season as a loaned player and Trezeguet came from Turkish league after impressing season and probably disappointing AFC Cup. Egypt..khmm..Salah and Co dropped out a little bit too early against South Africa.

Arsenal

A team I was expecting to be in this list after the summers transfers window. If not as the first place, then in the top 3 at least.
I'm really sorry in front of Arsenal fans, but things are not looking good. Yes, they are in second place in the expenditure list, but there were only 3 new players as signings. Nicolas Pepe (80mil), the French League rising star was signed from Lille and for me, he is the most interesting signing in the Premier League. Centre back William Saliba, only 18 years and cost them 30mil, will stay another season in Etienne. The third one is Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano. 18 years old Brazilian from Ituano, who is never even close to the quality they lost from midfield during the summer transfers window. Dani Ceballos, a loanee from Real Madrid has a chance to gain a lot of first-team experience, but which club will win from this?
So, there will be Pepe, Martinelli and  Ceballos with Nelson and Asano as new faces.
Arsenal lost Aaron Ramsey as an important piece from midfield and fringe players like old cannon Stephan Lichtsteiner and Danny Wellbeck. Denis Suarez returned to Barcelona.

Manchester United

It was very close between 3 different clubs and Wolves were on the 3rd position, until Maguire happened. Manchester United splashed the cash on new centre-back from Leicester.
Reds had strengthened their squad with Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the first choice right back from Crystal Palace. Daniel James from Swansea is rather a prospect on the wing, 21 years old and cost them 15mil.
Bissaka was almost 50mil and they lost midfielder Ander Herrera for free to PSG, who was quite important rotation player.
During the whole summer, we have had talks about Pogba and Lukaku leaving, but both of them are still in the club. Quite sure at the moment that they will cash in on Lukaku at least tough.
Harry Maguire is the latest addition and had a hefty price tag of 78mil pounds! This transfer meant that Manu is now the 3rd biggest spender in Premier League for ongoing summer.
It's evident that they needed Bissaka and Maguire, a former right-back Antonio Valencia flight back to Colombia. Also, their current set of central defenders haven't lived up the big expectations. Eric Bailly is injured and had only 12 games last season. Victor Lindelöf carried the load with 30 games last season and he is not on the level with top centre backs. Smalling and Jones had 18 and 24 games with Marcos Rojo with only 5 games.

The summer transfers window is still open!

Pepe, Rodri and Ndombele are the most expensive names currently who has joined the Premier League for the upcoming season. I would say it's a quite modest list of the names considering we are talking of Premier League. The window, is of course, still open and I'm really sure we can 2-3 big names joining the league. Question is, what big names we can see leaving the league?
Chelsea has transfer embargo and hasn't helped of course. Manchester City has already a great squad built during the last seasons and didn't need top-class stars in order to strengthen their squad a considerable amount of talent.
